I've tested it several times and I haven't been able to reproduce the problem.

Do you rebuild the volume before each test or you reuse the old one ?
If you reuse the old one, do you stop everything and then you restart it or you
simply bring the killed bring online while the 'dd' are running ?

Please give me as much information as you can about the precise details of your
test.
