I discovered something important:

The qemu process of the paused VM is accessing a wrong image path.
lsof is returning:

qemu-kvm 1404 qemu   11u  unknown                                      
/b55d0462-0dec-41a3-b0fd-6225fc5cf248/images/393a14c3-99df-4ffd-8ded-0705a22d3304/dc9d4128-3172-4259-9923-54db19347fd2
(stat: No such file or directory)

After restarting the VM, the paths are correct:

qemu-kvm 7781 qemu   11u   REG               0,34   647364608
11256586019595226674
/rhev/data-center/mnt/glusterSD/h1.imatronix.com:gluster-storage/b55d0462-0dec-41a3-b0fd-6225fc5cf248/images/393a14c3-99df-4ffd-8ded-0705a22d3304/dc9d4128-3172-4259-9923-54db19347fd2

This is the reason while the VM cannot be started again.
