Yes, thats old post, but gluster's volfile definitions has not changed.

considering the volume type is 'tcp,rdma', you don't have to worry if 
infiniband is not there, as it should work fine on ethernet without issues.

we don't recommend changing the volfiles directly, as it would be 
re-written by subsequent changes to volume through gluster CLI.

Also, for now, we don't have a CLI option to modify the transport type 
of the volume. We are treating it as a pending feature enhancement and 
would be available in some time.
