We had issues with autofs, but the symptoms were different (and that one
was fixed), cf.

However, it turns out from that report that autofs spawns multiple
glusterfs processes -- this might be related to your issue too.

Can you please give the following data:

- OS / kernel / autofs versions
- autofs config
- glusterfs volfile
