If there are no (known) services/scrips that use the .com domain, I
would like to see it retired rather sooner than later.

Redirect of any (http) access to
http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.file-systems.gluster.infra/460 or
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.file-systems.gluster.infra/460
should be appropriate ;-)
