Two questions:

Are you looking at developing a translator outside of glusterfs tree? like
mentioned @ https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1636297 ?

Or do you want to add a translator to glusterfs source tree? Then I
recommend having a look at
https://github.com/gluster/glusterfs/tree/master/xlators/playground/template/src
