Thanks for this. Let us go through these ideas sometime next week. 
Me/Jeff do intend to setup a dedicated meeting for performance 
improvements sometime then.

+1 to implement whatever we can today in 3.7. I envision performance 
improvements across the board as being one of the release themes for 
GlusterFS 3.7.
