If it's too much work, you can simply pass the rebase responsibility
back to the original poster (me in this case).

Maybe they were intended as such, but since the compile went through
without them, they would stand as 'unneeded' at this point in time.

You would still have to explain to the other distros' packagers why
not using the system libuuid (when there is one) is beneficial to
glusterfs..
