That's very funny, Nathan. I've been testing and reporting bugs for Gluster
since day one, thanks to my and many other's reports and extensive
debugging, testing and usage Gluster has become a more robust platform. I
will pay for support if I see Gluster as a more serious company and not run
by people who promise things and don't deliver. Everyone knows it's free,
there is also tons of free software out there, Apache is free too, but do
you see them asking you to pay in order to get serious bugs fixed or even
get a freaking answer what the future of Gluster looks like or which version
is the most stable.
You shouldn't put a product out there, and ask people to test it for use
extensively and then turn your back on them and say, well now that we have
used up all your time, please go ahead and pay us to answer your questions.
For your information, paid support was not always an option. We all used to
hang out in the irc chan and talk to the devs and give them our core dumps
which helped them fix Gluster, give them new ideas. It turns out it was all
for nothing because they can't figure out what to do with Gluster and create
a serious company.
And how the hell is a question about roadmap a question for paid support,
are you serious?
Cheers,
Alex
