I think the ping timer is set way too low here.  The default is 42 seconds.

Can you provide the gluster volume info for the volume?


As to the errors, if the issue is what I think it is , I would expect to see 
"failed to unserialize xattr dict" errors in the client log. Do you see any
such errors?
