It could likely be, since the EIO is originating from AFR. gluster-3.5 is end
of life[1] now, (as is 3.6 and soon 3.7 too, once 3.10 is out) and even it if
were a bug in it, there won't be any fix available.

I would urge you to have all gluster bits at 3.8 and see if the issue it hit.
