Dear all,
Out of fairness to who has always tried to help here and to eventually
help others that had our issues, we are happy to announce that our case
can be considered closed at the moment. We had complained about healings
not being performed and high load on our gluster vms (kvm/qemu). And
tried various workarounds that kept us "afloat".
Our setup includes ctdb machines on top of the gluster storage. Clients
(mostly Windows) connect to the ctdb cluster which exposes the shares.
Samba was updated to 4.20.6 on those ctdb machines, glusterfs both on
ctdb and gluster bricks is at version 10.5.
The module we use for access has been changed from "vfs_glusterfs" to
"vfs_glusterfs_fuse" in samba (in the conf is: vfs objects = acl_xattr
glusterfs_fuse)
This has been enough to make our gluster heal entries, leaving only one
orphaned entry we fixed manually. Now since 2 days we have no pending
healings anymore! We usually started accumulating unhealed entries every
day (which healed only after reboot of all nodes). Seems like the samba
update in combination to the fuse mount have brought benefit. At least
this was our case.
So we take the chance to thank the community of GlusterFS for the
answers provided.
Best regards
Ilias
