If your volume is a replica 2, then you can take one brick off-line, update it, restart it, and let it heal.
Then repeat for the other brick.
If it's a DHT (distribute) volume then you don't really have a choice, it has to be a disruptive update. If you can add two bricks you can turn it into a distribute+replica volume (let it heal), and then do the updates.
