samba/vfs_glusterfs uses libgfapi. The general guidelines are the same 
for other libgfapi clients (like QEMU). These two steps are most 
important, and regularly only partially applied:

Your volume has the 'server.allow-insecure' option enabled already, but 
if you did not stop/start the volume (not the same as a reboot of the 
storage servers), the option may not be effective yet (depending on the 
glusterfs version).
