Also interested in #2. Are there any caveats to this fix (performance,
stability)?

Additionally: In the "known issues" for 3.4 is the ominous and vague
"replace-brick operation does not work fine in all cases in this
release". Is any further detail available on this problem? Will
replace-brick be a roll of the dice until 3.5?

In general, links to the bug-tracker for know issues are appreciated in
the release notes.
