There's no firewall on this machine but that gave me the idea to connect
on port 24007 with telnet. This got me:

root at titane:~# telnet localhost 24007
Trying 27.0.0.1...

and I realized that was a typo in /etc/hosts. I added the missing '1' and
the command now works.
