Well, there is the official Redhat storage appliance - but since they don't
publish a list price (that I can find), I am assuming it is too expensive to
be worth considering. In any case, it would likely force me down paths I
don't want to go, like huge 48-drive chasses that take three people to lift.

310 MB/s = 2.6 Gbps, so you have more than maxed out a 1G link. Time for you
to buy some 10G NICs :-)
