when you start a volume it starts glusterfsd daemons (without nfs export) and nfs server exporting gluster volumes. You can try to connect to glusterfsd daemons. In other words If your volume name is "foo" you can mount glusterfs through fuse using

# glusterfs -s <hostname/ip-of-machine-on-which-volume-was-created> --volfile-id=foo /mnt/gluster
