Yup, like Justin said in a later thread, the patch has been merged in 
3.4 branch and is available 3.4.5 beta1 onwards. Backports happen to a 
'branch' and is available in the subsequent 'release' made off that branch.

You can apply http://review.gluster.org/#/c/8164/  manually to the 3.4.4 
source; that should be fine.
