This might be related to the specific version of apache. Can you give
more details about the exact apache version (and devel package
version, if different) which are installed?

mod_glusterfs lets you export glusterfs by embedding the filesystem
inside apache address space making it very efficient. Alternatively,
you can export a regular fuse based mountpoint as a document root as
well.
