This was discussed in today's community meeting.
Kaleb reminded everyone that the community decided to stop supporting
and building packages for EL5 from glusterfs-3.8 [1].
With this in mind, the opinion was that we will be willing to accept
patches that help build GlusterFs on EL5 (only patches like what Neils
has described above).
But we will not be building EL5 packages or be running tests on EL5.
