Hello Amar and thanks for your answer. Now it makes sense for me. 

I think it would be cool if you add this answer (about num.of threads =
num of CPUs) to the documentation at
http://gluster.org/docs/index.php/GlusterFS_Translators_v1.3#Threaded_I.2FO_Translator (just a suggestion, ofcourse)
