Brick multiplexing feature makes it possible for compatible bricks to share resources. All compatible bricks from the same node will be using one brick process when brick multiplexing is enabled. This feature becomes necessary in use cases where scaling wrt no. of volumes is important. When there are a large number of bricks per node, having brick multiplexing enabled would ensure sharing of ports, global data structures and threads between these compatible bricks.

Brick multiplexing will initially be supported only for container workloads. By default this feature is turned off. To enable/disable brick multiplexing the "cluster.brick-multiplex" global option should be set accordingly.
