Question on the remove bricks steps:
1. Did you run the following commands:
 gluster volume remove-brick gfsvbackup server01:/export/disk1/brick start 
 gluster volume remove-brick gfsvbackup server01:/export/disk1/brick commit

per brick before the add-brick?


 gluster volume remove-brick gfsvbackup server01:/export/disk1/brick
is not a valid command.

Did you delete the data on the removed bricks before adding it back again?
Did you run a rebalance after the add-brick?
